Grateful Gatherings

Bringing the Community Together to Share the Bounty

At the Pittsburgh Culinary Initiative, we believe that everyone deserves a safe, warm, & hearty meal, especially on a day as meaningful as Thanksgiving. Our Grateful Gatherings program is a testament to this belief, aiming to bring together our community to ensure that no one experiences food insecurity during this special time of year.

Our Mission

Grateful Gatherings is an ambitious initiative designed to feed between 10,000 to 15,000 people on Thanksgiving Day. This massive effort is driven by our commitment to community support, ensuring that everyone can enjoy a delicious meal and the spirit of togetherness, regardless of their circumstances.

Community Collaboration

Our success is built on the strength of our community partnerships. We are proud to collaborate with a diverse range of organizations, including:

- Pittsburgh Police Department: Ensuring safe and smooth operations throughout the event.

- Local Fraternities and Sororities: Engaging young leaders in service and community involvement.

- Religious Organizations: Bringing together faith communities to support a common cause.

- Sports Teams: Rallying local athletes to contribute their time and energy.

- Volunteers and Donors: The backbone of our initiative, providing the essential resources and manpower needed to make Grateful Gatherings a reality.

How It Works

Meal Preparation

Our team of dedicated chefs and volunteers work tirelessly to prepare a variety of delicious, nutritious meals. Utilizing donated ingredients and safe food handling practices, we ensure that every dish is both wholesome & delicious.

Distribution

Meals are distributed at various locations throughout the Pittsburgh region to reach as many people as possible. We coordinate with local shelters, community centers, and other accessible venues to ensure that those in need can easily receive their Thanksgiving meal.

Special Touches

Grateful Gatherings is about more than just food; it’s about creating a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Each meal is prepared with love, and our volunteers go the extra mile to provide a sense of dignity and care, including personalized touches and friendly interactions.
